In past research studies, we’ve heard that users feel overwhelmed and lost when starting out on Squarespace. As such, about 50% of new trial-ers abandon Squarespace in their first 10 minutes without taking any meaningful action on their site.

The Setup Guide intends to help these users by teaching them how to complete key actions on Squarespace, such as editing website sections or connecting a domain to their site.

As the lead designer for a new surface area and widget, I created a centralized surface for guidance and streamlined onboarding. This design, which included reviews and approval from Executives and the CEO, was adopted by our Design System and contributed to a 7% increase in international subscribers.
